Sure, you can swipe through your apps to decide what to delete, but it often works better to see a fresh perspective. Usually things blend into the background when we see them all the time and we never stop to ask ourselves, "Do I actually need this app??"

A word to those considering only "offloading" your apps: the apps aren't actually available to use during this time. When you decide you want to use an offloaded app, only a saved state of you app data remains locally on your phone. In order to use the app again, it has to be re-downloaded from the App Store. This could cause problems if you have a limited data cap or if the app is no longer available from the App Store. (I was bitten by the latter on on of my older devices.)
