In iOS 16, Apple added the ability to be notified when someone adds or completes items on a shared reminder list. This shared list Reminders feature can be set differently for each shared list. But some of these notifications have been turned on by default!
If you’re in a shared Reminders list and were surprised to get a notification about someone adding pesto to the shared family Costco list, you aren’t alone! When I updated to the iOS16 beta back in June, these were all turned on for me by default!
See, for me, keeping notifications tamed means no unneeded notifications. It's extra noise that could mean I miss something important! But how to turn off these extra Reminder's notifications wasn't very intuitive for me, so I decided to share the answer!
“Manage sharing” kind of just looks like adding or subtracting people. But you can turn off-- or on-- the reminders when shared reminders members add or complete a shared reminder from here.
This has its uses: if you want to thank your partner for picking something up, or doing a task, this could be great!
